News from St Margaret Clitherow...
1 in 4 Christmas Jumpers are only worn once. Help us to combat plastic pollution and save money by swapping your 'old' jumper for a 'new' one.
Bring in your clean Christmas jumper between 20.11.23 - 04.12.23, the school Eco-Council will then sort the jumpers ready for them to be swapped on 07.12.23.
Children can then wear their new jumper on Christmas lunch day 14.12.23
Many of our children and staff wore odd socks today to signal the start of Anti-Bullying Week. We started the week by wearing odd socks and participating in an Anti-Bullying Assembly. By wearing odd socks, we are saying that it is ok to be different and that we stand up against discrimination and bullying.
During the assembly we discussed:
Some great colourful socks!
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our CAFOD Harvest Appeal for items for the local Foodbank - we have been overwhelmed with your wonderful support.

In collaboration with the Shine Charity and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St Margaret Clitherow will host a pop-up foodbank where the public will be able to come and collect perishable food items donated by local supermarkets.
This initiative will begin this Saturday 8th July and run on a weekly.
Food is free, however, Shine asks for a donation of £1 which contributes to their 'Pay-it-Forward' scheme, whereby donations are invested in other charitable works.
Please spread the word to anyone who you may know is in need of help with rising food costs.
On Thursday 29th June we celebrated the Mass of St. Peter & Paul with Fr. Danny.
We also celebrated the diversity of our school community by holding an International Day to acknowledge and recognise the many different nationalities we have at St Margaret Clitherow.
Children were invited to come wearing their country's national dress or items that represented their country/culture. Many of the children also brought in food to share with their class mates.
Many of the children thought that it is important to celebrate our diversity to ensure that all feel welcome and included in our community.
The children stated:
It was good to try new foods – Rafi Yr5
We got to show our cultures and beliefs – Josh Yr5
Fun to try food from different nationalities – Maria Yr6
I enjoyed wearing clothes from my own culture – it made me feel proud – Nisa Yr6
It was fun to see the national dress of other countries - Ansh Yr6
We enjoyed learning about the countries that other children are from e.g. how far away they are, what they do etc. – Logan & Isabelle Yr6
We have had a wonderful day of celebrations for the Coronation. The song we have been learning was performed as part of the assembly today.
Charlie Bear came to visit us too whilst we had our special picnic. The children all have a special bookmark to commemorate this occasion in school, which they will bring home tonight.
