We act with love, build our faith and grow as people
Pope Francis decided that 2025 would be a special jubilee year. The theme of this year is Pilgrims of Hope. During this year, we are all called to work together to bring hope to all those around the world that are affected by war, debt and famine.
'Love - Faith - Grow'
At St. Margaret Clitherow we pledge to:
Let all that we do be done out of love for others.
We will act with love, build our faith and grow together as people.
We will work together to speak out where we see injustice, help those less fortunate than ourselves by raising money and giving our time to build a fairer world for all.
As part of our pledge day - Monday 16th June, we invited Human Rights Activist and Sudan Specialist, Shayna Lewis, to talk to us about the conflict in Sudan. She answered questions posed by our School Council and then explained what we can do to help with this injustice. As a result, the children will be writing letters to our local MP and to the internally displaced children of Sudan.
Through out this year, we have decided to support Mary's Meals.
Mary's Meals provides a school meal for children around the world, each day of the school year. They believe: 'A daily meal served in school has a positive impact on enrolment, attendance, and performance in class, and Magnus believes it could hold the key to eradicating child hunger altogether. The average cost of feeding a child for a whole school year with Mary’s Meals is just £19.15.'
We are also supporting them by donating our unwanted tech which they recycle to raise money to put towards the campaign.
Our school’s effort re: unwanted recycled items e.g mobiles/ipads/watches/stamps has generated £94.25.
Please do check back to see how much money we raise over the year.
