St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary School

We act with love, build our faith and grow as people

PTA

Welcome! All our parents automatically become part of the SMC Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The SMC PTA is a registered charity that raises money to improve the school experience for all its children. We are a group of parents whose children attend the school and volunteer our own time to build and enhance the community for the well-being of our children and the school teachers and staff.

We hold numerous fundraising events throughout the year to enhance the experience and community. Last year we held discos, movie nights, Fireworks night, a Christmas fair, non-uniform days, had pre-loved uniform sales, held cake & ice lolly sales & even had the Circus come to perform!

Annually, we typically raise £10,000 for the school. All profit goes to raising money that enhances the children’s school experience. We’ve had Christmas pantomimes performed at the school, bought the Year 6’s their leaving gifts and more. Education-wise, we have paid to replace all the early reading books to adhere to the government’s new reading scheme, bought iPads for ICT learning and paid for the building of a well-being room used by many children for a calm space, 1-2-1 learning and visits from community healthcare for hearing tests. In 2023-2024 we will be raising money to update the Year Reception’s outdoor space.

This happens only with the dedication of the entire parental and carer community. We need PTA Class Representatives, PTA Leadership roles filled, volunteers and donors to contribute. There are so many ways to help through volunteering time (planning/before/during/after an event), donating funds or items (such as paper cups) and offering your skills.

If you’re excited about making an even better school experience for your children, please get in touch with me or your class representative! We are so looking forward to another fun year!

Sincerely,

Melinda Spence
